PRESS RELEASE: Focus Insolvency Group announces new appointment to board of directors

Wigan based Focus Insolvency Group today announced a new appointment to their board of directors. Natalie Hughes, who recently qualified as a fully licensed Insolvency Practitioner, joins the four current board members in the role of Operations Director.

Alongside her new role as a director Natalie will begin taking her first insolvency appointments next week after receiving her certification in June 13. Natalie passed the challenging JIEB (Joint Insolvency Examination Board) examinations in March 2013 marking the culmination of many years of experience in the insolvency industry and many months of intense study.

Press Release: Focus Insolvency Group launch nationwide debt advice open days

Wigan based Focus Insolvency Group are launching a series of regular open days across the country to provide face to face advice for individuals and businesses struggling with debt and financial pressures.

As well as taking appointments at their head office in Wigan and regional office in Newhaven, debt advice open days will be scheduled on a monthly basis in London, Cambridge, Bristol, Birmingham and York.

The opens days are a free support and rescue service available in carefully chosen locations across the UK meaning that the majority of the country are no more than an hour’s drive or commute from gaining free debt advice and solutions on a one to one basis.

The event took place at the head office of the newly acquired restructuring business on April 19th and saw the festivities kicked off by Lord Brett McLean, chairman of the Federation of Small Businesses South East.

PRESS RELEASE: Focus fundraisers plan ‘return journey’ after completing charity trek in excellent time

The team at Wigan based Focus Insolvency Group have smashed expectations for their latest charity event aiding local four year old Jack Johnson, by reaching their target with time to spare!

The 16 strong fundraising squad – from managing director to receptionist and from keen athlete to leisurely dog walker – teamed up with recent acquisition, Phil Stone Consultancy to raise much needed funds for research into terminal condition Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) from which Jack suffers.

The team planned to complete 252 miles (406km), the equivalent distance between their two headquarters over 28 days in what they have dubbed the Focus 400 Charity Challenge. They began on March 1st planning to average 9 miles a day collectively, but have managed to cover the impressive distance in just 18 days.

Wigan based Focus Insolvency Group are proud to announce that Insolvency Manager Natalie Hughes has passed the JIEB (Joint Insolvency Examination Board) examinations qualifying her as a fully licensed Insolvency Practitioner.

The exam results, which were published by the insolvency regulatory body R3 on March 1st this year, mark the culmination for Natalie of many years of experience in the insolvency industry and many months of intense study.

Press Release: Focus fundraisers begin month long 252 mile ‘trek’ for Joining Jack

Wigan based Focus Insolvency Group is helping local four year old Jack Johnson with a charity fun run. The 16 strong charity team – from managing director to receptionist – will be raising valuable funds for research into terminal condition Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).

Jack, a DMD sufferer, is a normal schoolboy but his health will deteriorate as he gets older, he will likely need leg braces to walk by the age of 10, be confined to a wheelchair by 12 and is unlikely to live beyond the age of 30.

Focus Insolvency Group are delighted to announce that they have chosen to support the Wigan based charity ‘Joining Jack’ as part of their continuing charity work in the coming year.

Each year Focus Insolvency Group chooses a local charity to get behind by raising awareness and money for their cause. Previous events have involved taking part in the Great Manchester Run and the X-runner Wild Thing obstacle course and mud run.

Joining Jack was set up by former Wigan Warrior Andy Johnson and his wife Alex in aid of their son Jack who suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), a rare and incurable muscle wasting condition. The charity began in May this year to raise awareness and fund research to find a cure.

The team are delighted to repeat the success they had raising money for Derian House back in May when four members ran in the Bupa Great Manchester Run for which they raised a massive £645.

Press Release – Business Insolvencies down by 11% in North West England

A recent report from Experian has shown that business insolvencies in the North West of England fell by 11% in June 2012 compared to the same period last year.

The largest decrease regionally was seen in South East with 20.7% fewer insolvencies; however the West Midlands saw the largest increase with 18.2% more business failures.

SME’s were the only group to see an improvement in the insolvency figures country wide with those employing between 51 and 100 people showing the largest decrease with a drop of 35.8% of businesses becoming insolvent on the same period last year.

Press Release – Bankruptcy too Lenient

A recent survey by R3, the insolvency trade body has revealed that 58% of the British public feels bankruptcy is too lenient. The results suggest that an increasing amount of us (82%) believe that some people are taking advantage of the bankruptcy system to get rid of debts they have built up through reckless spending.

The survey brings to light that 64% would like to see the system altered by changing how people were treated in bankruptcy dependant on their previous spending patterns, potentially introducing a direct correlation between prior spending habits and the term of the bankruptcy.
